MANILA, Philippines -- A former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines advised dismissed Philippine Military Academy senior cadet Jeff Aldrin Cudia to move on, saying insisting on a career in the uniformed service would only make a “leper” out of him.
At the same time, Muntinlupa Representative Rodolfo Biazon, who also served a stint as PMA superintendent during his service, joined calls to give Cudia his diploma and transcript of records to ease him into civilian life.
"I would advise that he (Cudie) should not anymore stay in the service because he would be a leper out there," Biazon told a news conference Tuesday.
"But they should give him his diploma and transcript of records so he could start anew in his civilian life," he added.
Cudia was found guilty of violating the PMA Honor Code by the so-called Honor committee of the academy and recommended for dismissal.
He supposedly lied about the reason why he was two minutes late for a class.
However, Cudia and his family contested the decision of the committee and claimed that it had changed an 8-1 vote that would have dismissed the charges against him to a unanimous 9-0.
In the wake of the controversy, PMA students voted to ostracize Cudia.
Cudia’s family met with President Benigno Aquino III on the eve of PMA Class 'Sikab Diwa' 2014’s graduation Sunday. It was agreed that Cudia would not join the ceremonies while Aquino remanded his case to AFP chief General Emmanuel Bautista for investigation.
"I am glad the President did not reverse the findings of the Honor committee … If external pressure toward reversing the ruling of the Honor committee was exerted, then you have done something against the committee," Biazon said.
